Xpeng, the prominent Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, announces its ambition to become a leader in future technology, expanding its portfolio with models such as SUVs like the G6 and G9, the sedan P7, and the MPV X9, in addition to having recently launched the G6 in the UK and Australia.

This advancement in electric mobility is complemented by the company’s focus on artificial intelligence (AI) systems during its AI Day 2025, held in Guangzhou, centered on ‘Emergence’.

During this event, Xpeng presented the VLA 2.0 model, a technology that optimizes the interaction between physical AI systems, including vehicles, robots, and aircraft.

Xpeng plans to launch robotaxis and a new humanoid robot by 2026

This system is distinguished by its ability to efficiently process visual data, allowing actions to be performed directly from images, unlike models that rely on natural language, such as those used by Google.

The VLA 2.0 requires powerful computational processing, reaching 2,250 TOPS in consumer vehicles and up to 3,000 TOPS in robotaxis, significantly surpassing competitors like Tesla, which currently uses platforms of 144 TOPS. Xpeng’s strategy is ambitious yet pragmatic, offering a solution that, while sacrificing some flexibility, promises greater efficiency and responsiveness.

In addition, Xpeng has announced a partnership with Volkswagen to integrate its technology into vehicles intended for the Chinese market. This strategic link also includes the joint development of two specific models.

Regarding its robotics plans, the company presented its upcoming humanoid robot, ‘Iron’, which aims to stand out for its manipulation and processing capabilities on the device itself, potentially facilitating its application in everyday tasks.

With the launch of additional models and the integration of its advanced VLA 2.0 system in the coming years, the company expects to accelerate its entry into the global robotaxi market, projecting pilot tests for 2026 and mass production. Xpeng continues to set new standards in the convergence of mobility, robotics, and artificial intelligence.
