VideoLAN have announced the latest release of VLC Media Player on both Mac and Windows. Version 1.1.9 “The Luggage” mainly addresses security holes but the Mac version features more than a dozen interface fixes and now includes Growl notification software.
The security fix concerns a buffer overflow vulnerability with MP4/MPEG-4 files which could have been exploited by hackers. It also fixes the Libmodplug library to close a vulnerability when opening S3M files. A full list of fixes and improvements can be found here.
