With the release of iOS 27, Siri AI comes to the iPhone. Apple’s assistant takes a huge step forward and greatly expands what we can ask it to do and improves how it understands our context when it responds. Do we want to put it to the test? 125 questions that show us what Siri AI can do
David Pogue has put the new assistant up against 125 requests and the result, according to what he posted on Substack, stands out. His list includes personal queries, actions across apps, general knowledge questions, and much more.
We can ask it “what are they expecting from me?” and Siri pulls together our commitments to other people from Mail, Messages, and Reminders so we can see at a glance what’s still pending. We can ask it to work out the total of several bills we have on the Mac, fix a transcription error by voice, split the bill at a restaurant, or open FaceTime directly for our 1:00 p.m. call.
The best part is that we don’t have to give it too much context, the assistant understands us. A simple “open the call I have now” or “how much did I spend on last week’s trip” is enough. We’re looking at an assistant that understands what we’re seeing and doing at all times.
Siri AI arrives alongside the new Apple Intelligence features in iOS 27 and the improvements in the Messages app, where Siri gains more context and more capability. Given the compatibility requirements, iOS 27 turns Siri into an assistant that is far more capable than it was a year ago. An assistant that understands us, knows us, and is ready to help us with practically anything.
