In the Wire Wrangling Olympics, Twitch has quickly positioned itself as one of the possible winners. And it is that its new policy on erotic streams has lasted, literally, less than two days… which have been enough to demonstrate that its previously excessively puritanical service had high chances of becoming OnlyFans if they did not raise the barriers again.
First, eros
It all started with a new trend on Twitch based on women who appeared to be topless (but without showing anything): due to the proliferation of bans, the company decided to allow fictional and digital nudity as long as it was properly marked. The problem is that there are streamers who take advantage of any leeway given: the rules started to be broken here and there, which led to, well, a backtrack.
Only in adult-oriented games will nudity be allowed from now on, reverting to the previous rules. However, the rest of the changes that were implemented two days ago will remain, and they involve exotic dances, content focused only on certain clothed body parts, or body painting. Many people are not happy with content like the “hot tub”, but it doesn’t seem like that will change.
The truth is that the company could have predicted that this was going to happen, but in the meantime it has become the laughingstock of social media (at least, if you manage to navigate among people showing their angry fist). In the end, they have decided to cut off the possibility – not unrealistic considering what has been seen – of becoming a page of erotic webcams with a couple of gamers in the background. That’s what we’re gaining.
