According to Gizmodo, the popularity of gpt2-chatbot reached its peak before suddenly disappearing on Tuesday afternoon, leaving only a notice on the LMSYS homepage indicating its unavailability “due to unexpectedly high traffic”. Despite this, LMSYS hinted at a future release, keeping the community in suspense.
Speculations about the origin of the gpt2-chatbot have erupted on Twitter, where several users have talked about the possibility of accomplishing impressive feats such as creating a perfect clone of Flappy Bird or solving a problem from the International Mathematical Olympiad in one go. In addition, on Reddit there were numerous threads debating whether the bot belongs to OpenAI, Google or even Anthropic, although there is no evidence to support these claims.
