How often should you turn off your phone? This is what the NSA says
This question not only helps save battery. It also contributes to the security of our smartphone, as it has been proven that spies…
Many people need to learn how to use a smartphone correctly. After all, these devices require regular maintenance and important updates to be optimally protected against external attacks.
Surprisingly, this includes a very simple function: completely turning off the smartphone. According to NSA security experts, this alone helps protect the device from hacker attacks.
Currently, it is not only common to access smartphones through malicious links, but also through the so-called zero-click exploits.
It is about bypassing step by step the security functions of the smartphone. Starting with a missed call, then the first installed files that gradually allow access to the system and tap into information.
This method often goes unnoticed, but fortunately it can be avoided by completely restarting the device. So, how often should I turn off the phone?
The simple answer from security experts about how often a mobile phone should be completely turned off is: at least once a week.
In the best case scenario, however, we need to remember to restart our phone even more often. This is because, in addition to eliminating security risks, it also allows the smartphone’s operating system to perform all functions smoothly.
To find out how long your device has been running without turning off, you can easily check the system settings. On Android devices, it is usually found under “Device” and then “Status”. There, the uptime in hours is displayed. If you exceed 168 hours with the phone turned on: start turning it off.
