Meet the Tai 3: BYD’s Most Budget-Friendly Electric Vehicle Yet

BYD Tai 3 electric SUV

BYD is making waves in the electric vehicle market with the launch of its new Tai 3 SUV, designed specifically for families and priced to attract budget-conscious consumers.

As part of BYD’s luxury sub-brand, Fang Cheng Bao, the Tai 3 starts at an impressive 139,800 yuan (approximately $19,300), marking it as the most affordable electric vehicle under the brand.

Measuring 4,605 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,720 mm in height, the Tai 3 is roughly comparable in size to Tesla’s Model Y, offering a spacious interior that can comfortably seat five passengers.

The most affordable electric vehicle under the brand Tai

The Tai 3 comes equipped with a range of modern features, including a robust infotainment system with a 15.6-inch touchscreen and a “Chariot gear lever” featuring crystal buttons. Unique touches include a built-in refrigerator and a multifunctional smart island for added convenience.

Under the hood, the Tai 3 boasts an impressive driving range of up to 501 km (311 miles) on a full charge, supported by a choice between a 72.96 kWh base battery and a larger 78.72 kWh battery for the flagship ‘Drone’ version.

This electric SUV isn’t just about storage and space; it also includes advanced technology, such as BYD’s AI-assisted “God’s Eye” driver-assist system, which enables features like autonomous highway navigation and remote parking.

The Tai 3 will be available in five different variants, with the top-tier version priced at 203,800 yuan ($28,000). Pre-orders have already begun, and deliveries are expected to start in April. The introduction of the Tai 3 marks an exciting step for BYD as it expands its lineup, following hybrid offerings like the Bao 5 and Bao 8. Given these features, the Tai 3 is poised to make a significant impact in the competitive electric SUV market.
