Imagine that in 2021 someone had shown up at your house to tell you: “hey, how about I sell you a graphics card from 2016, already obsolete and without the latest tech, and charge you today’s price for it?”.
You’d surely have thought it was a joke, that no company would be crazy enough to do it and there wouldn’t be customers dumb enough to buy that GPU. Unfortunately, the present is darker than we ever could have imagined.
The boom in the AI market has been fantastic for innovation, but not so much for consumer electronics and consumers like us. Just search on Google how much a prebuilt PC cost around this time last year compared with today, and you’ll feel your bank account scream in terror.
Well then, it seems Nvidia is giving a hand to gamers who are having trouble getting a new RTX 50 GPU, since, it has reportedly started putting new RTX 3060s up for sale. And the curious thing is that they have a price almost identical to what they had when they first hit the market.

The folks at Tom’s Hardware noticed that something strange was happening at Newegg. Apparently, out of nowhere, the online store is now selling GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB GDDR6 Windforce GPUs, which have become available again. Curiously, Nvidia’s page for this GPU now lists it as a “Rev. 2.0” model, which implies that Nvidia has tweaked it slightly before re-releasing it.
Perhaps the most surprising thing of all is that Newegg is offering the GPU for $339.99, which is only $10 more than it cost when it first launched. Of course, buying a GTX 3060 isn’t ideal, since you’ll miss out on DLSS 4.5 and Frame Generation; however, if you need a powerful GPU for your gaming PC and you’re finding it hard to get an RTX 50 series card, this should be a good alternative… or not.
