Choosing an iPhone means comparing cameras, sizes, battery life, storage, and even artificial intelligence features. The easiest thing is usually to consider the latest model available, but that isn’t always an option for everyone. Although the iPhone lineup is surprisingly simple, compared with that of other manufacturers, Apple is preparing some extra help, reportedly: a shopping assistant integrated into the Apple Store app, which we’ll be able to chat with to better help us choose based on what we’re looking for.
A conversation to find the right iPhone
As reported by MacRumors, the privacy policy of the Apple Store app suggests that we could soon get a chat interface where we’ll be able to ask, among other things, about differences between models. The system will use account, device, carrier, conversation, and location information — when we allow it — to tailor its answers and give us the most relevant recommendations.
Being able to compare the camera features at a glance, for example, of different generations of iPhone, check the requirements of the new AI Siri, or know the maximum RAM and storage available on different Macs will no doubt be very interesting.
For now, the only confirmation we have of the possible launch of this service is in the app’s privacy policy, but that doesn’t necessarily mean this new chat is actually coming. It would make sense, even more so now that Apple is integrating AI into almost all its applications, but we’ll have to wait for official confirmation. In the meantime, being able to have an AI assistant help with our Apple Store purchases will be really interesting.
