Reports have started circling around a rumored Star Wars project, currently being referred to as Star Wars Zero Company, and the pitch is pretty 30 to 40 hour: a 30 to 40 hour, linear single-player campaign with no New Game+. What’s striking is how positive the reaction has been.
That stands out for a simple reason. There’s no officially announced or released Star Wars game with that name, so this is probably a codename, a placeholder title, or just some early confusion around a project that hasn’t been confirmed. Still, the response is telling. At a time when so many big-budget games expect 80 or 100 hours from you, a 30 to 40 hour Star Wars story feels doable, not lesser.
If you’re the kind of player who actually likes reaching the credits, this is the sort of setup to keep an eye on. A tighter runtime usually means a complete story that keeps moving, not a giant map stuffed with chores. And there’s still a real audience for a directed single-player game built around pacing, character arcs, and big cinematic moments, especially for people who are tired of every major release turning into another open world or live-service grind.
You can already see that audience in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Both games leaned hard into guided, story-first design, even if Survivor opened things up with larger hub areas. And sure, the lack of New Game+ could annoy completionists, but it’s hardly a dealbreaker if the first playthrough is polished, satisfying, and works as a complete package on its own.
There’s nothing to download yet. But the appetite for this kind of game is obvious, whether you’re looking at Star Wars Eclipse or even Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.
