Legion, the 2010 action-horror oddity, has climbed into Tubi’s U.S. top 10, according to FlixPatrol, giving Paul Bettany’s film an unexpected second run on the free streaming service.
Scott Stewart directed the movie, which opened on January 22, 2010, with Bettany starring as the Archangel Michael after he turns against God to protect a pregnant waitress and her unborn child while possessed attackers close in on a remote desert diner. Dennis Quaid, Tyrese Gibson, and Kevin Durand fill out the cast and help carry its pulpy mix of siege thriller, supernatural horror, and action.
If you’ve got a soft spot for late-2000s supernatural genre movies, Legion’s comeback makes a certain amount of sense. It brought in roughly $67 million to $70 million worldwide on a reported $26 million budget despite harsh reviews and a 20% Rotten Tomatoes score, later beat the more expensive Priest as a Bettany-Stewart pairing, spawned Syfy’s two-season Dominion, and now seems to be getting a lift from Tubi’s reach, nostalgia for grimy 2010-era fare, the cult-curiosity of a trilogy that never happened, and Bettany’s upcoming return in VisionQuest.
You can stream Legion free on Tubi in the U.S.
