Google has pushed a new Android Auto beta, version 17.6.663424, and it’s the latest test build of the company’s in-car interface. The first obvious sign of what’s changing is early evidence of Quick Settings tiles.
In this version, a Do Not Disturb tile shows up at the top of the notifications shade. That shade appears to open when you tap the battery and signal icons. From what the build shows so far, the tile seems to control the connected phone itself, not just Android Auto, which could make it much easier to silence alerts without digging through menus if Google ends up adding more toggles.
The feature isn’t live yet. Even so, it looks connected to the broader Android Auto redesign that’s been taking shape: a more borderless interface, better support for different screen shapes, widgets, and a refreshed media player. That work builds on Android Auto’s Coolwalk redesign, Google’s Material You style, and the shift from Google Assistant to Google Gemini. Google is also lining up more additions for 2026, including immersive 3D Maps, video streaming while parked, and audio-only productivity apps.
If you use Android Auto all the time, this is probably one to keep an eye on. The platform still comes with some familiar headaches, including wireless heat and battery drain, quirks in right-hand-drive layouts, and Google Gemini sometimes feeling slower than it should. Google also hasn’t confirmed a release date, a full list of tiles, or whether availability will change depending on region, car brand, or model.
Android Auto beta 17.6.663424 is available now for Android beta testers, although Quick Settings tiles still haven’t been enabled for the public.
