Personally, I love robots and I hate to see them imprisoned, so when I heard about this game I was understandably quite excited. The objective here is to help Robo the robot escape from one of the most secure jails on the planet (which planet, I’m not sure). It’s not very easy and there are all sorts of obstacles blocking his escape that you’ll need to blast with your laser.

Google Maps Street View zooms on six new cities
Google Maps has expanded its Street View service to six more American cities – Chicago, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland and Tucson. If you’re not up-to-speed with Google Maps Street View yet the software allows you to drag a little man onto any blue-outlined road and zoom in to see the houses, shops, cars and people. Using your mouse, you can scroll around the area as if you were there. However, it’s not without controversy. There have been obvious concerns mounted over the intrusion of people’s privacy (apparently members of the public have been spotted urinating and getting arrested, it’s unclear if this is the same person) as well as arguments that it could support future terrorist attacks. Whatever your view, these Google technologies are incredible and worth using.
Classic UNO fun for mobiles
UNO Classic 2007 is a fun version of the popular card game for mobile phones. There’s one simple objective – get rid of all your cards and shout out UNO! If you don’t know how to play it’s fairly simple. We used to play a slightly different version with a rude word when I was younger. You lay down cards, change the direction of the game, skip to the next player and change the selection of the cards being placed down.
Make sure you get the pretty one with SpeedDate
There aren’t many days I wake up and wish I was an American. Only kidding guys, but really I never have. Until just now. When I saw what you lot are up to. Because while I’ve been stuck at my computer sending messages to weird women who can’t spell it seems that you’ve been chatting to each other in three minute webcam dates. And if you haven’t then you really should have been.
SpeedDate offers ‘real’ dating via your computer. Meaning when the face of your partner lifts the bile from your stomach you don’t even have to buy them a drink. Just close your eyes,
talk and wait for the three minutes to run out. Then the date is over, the screen goes black and you choose if you want to ‘connect again’ to talk further. Some demos on here show guys really messing-up by talking about failed romances and how they don’t like to cook. Idiots. Girls don’t really like honesty. It seems now is the time for these webcam dating services with a number of competitors like WooMe trying to seize the market. However they are all based in America. To get more users SpeedDate is holding events in San Fransisco, but that means actually meeting people and who wants to do that?!
Great voice and audio recorder

The very best of Super Mario
When I was 10 I bought a little electronic game that featured two men in dungarees frantically running up and down ladders as they passed cakes along a conveyor belt from an oven into a white van. Engraved on the front of that flip-open game was the eponymous title Super Mario Bros. Thus Mario and Luigi had arrived. At least in my world they had. Very soon I was rescuing Princess, killing Bowser, jumping on turtles, racing in cars against Donkey Kong and Toad and generally having a lot of fun with my two new plumber friends. And there is still a lot of Mario fun to be had, even without a Nintendo. Enjoy:
- Super Mario World Deluxe – If your thumbs weren’t bleeding you weren’t serious
- Super Mario 3 – Incredible recreation with joystick option
- Super Mario, Blue Twilight – Interesting unofficial reincarnation
- ZSNES – Super Nintendo emulator with Super Mario Kart
- Secret Maryo Chronicles Open Source version with level editor
- Super Mario War Mario goes psycho in this deathmatch edition
- Whack-A-Monty (Pocket PC) – Hidden Mario game for mobile phones
- Super Goboy (Symbian) – Gameboy emulator with Mario and Zelda
Shooting and strategy in Tilelander
Tilelander is an award-winning arcade game as colourful, as addictive and as challenging as anything you will have ever played. Ultimately your objective is to save Tileland from the invasion of the evil Xyzon empire by filling land with tiles (which destroys anything in the space) and by using special tools like blasts and guns
Sports management – you take control
I’m sure, like me, you’ve always thought you could do better than most sports managers. Sometimes I watch those football bosses and think, you’re just shouting and chewing gum and waving your hands like a looney, or boxing managers who slap their fighters in the face shouting, ‘Gimme me more, Butch’ when Butch or Bitch or whoever he is is dripping blood out of his ears. Which is why it’s always refreshing to sit down in front of a sports management game and watch it go completely and perfectly wrong. Try it yourself:
- Football Manager 2008 Strawberry Demo – Up-to-date players, astronomical salaries
- Universal Soccer Manager – Fun graphics with completely fictional teams and players
- Out of the Park Baseball Manager 2007 – Control the backroom office and the team
- Super Soccer Manager – National and international action with players from a year ago
- Universal Boxing Manager – Manage six different boxers, coach them and give ’em hell
The bird watcher’s dream
I used to be a young ornithologist which I hope I’ve spelt correctly. I got a badge and a bird book and used to attend meetings every Friday afternoon at my school. I was quite young but I can still point out a buzzard from a kite. In those days people didn’t have mobile phones – I’m serious, so we never had any nasty scares of ringtones and flashing cameras frightening our feathered friends away. However, there’s a new piece of software that means you can own a mobile phone and bird watch at the same time.
New Gizmo saves you money on calls
As I like to try and save you pennies on your mobile calls I thought I’d let you know about this little gizmo: Gizmo VoIP. It’s a Skype-style piece of software that means expensive mobile calls should be a thing of the past. Gizmo works by connecting all your calls to the Internet not the mobile network. Simple. And it’s easy to install and set-up
