Prime Video says Babita Singh Reporting will premiere worldwide on August 28, adding a new Indian original drama to the service’s growing international lineup.
This sounds less like a standard case-of-the-week police show and more like a character-first investigative drama. Nimisha Sajayan stars as Babita, a suspended police officer from a small town who gets pulled into the murder of a childhood friend. As the investigation moves forward, the case brings up hard truths about the crime and about Babita’s own life, with guilt, memory, buried secrets, and the emotional damage left behind all tied up in it.
Barun Sobti and Anshumaan Pushkar also star. Prime Video lists Ambiecka Pandit as director, Amita Vyas as writer, and Sudip Sharma as executive producer.
The company is rolling it out worldwide on the same day, which should give a pretty clear read on how much demand there is for Indian stories in languages other than English. And the more grounded, performance-driven approach could give it an edge over louder, more stylized crime thrillers.
If Indian crime dramas are already part of why you keep Prime Video around, this one feels like a solid bet, especially since it lands as part of the company’s wider 2026 India slate, which includes nearly 55 titles across Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu in an intensely competitive streaming market.
Prime Video says Babita Singh Reporting will be available in Hindi with English subtitles in India and in more than 240 countries and territories starting August 28.
