BYD, the leading electric vehicle manufacturer in China has announced a collaboration with Huawei to integrate advanced driving assistance technology into its new brand of electric SUVs, Fang Cheng Bao.
This alliance aims to close the technological gap that exists with competitors like Tesla and other emerging Chinese rivals in the electric vehicle market.
Fang Cheng Bao, which was launched in June of last year, has shifted from a “professional-grade” approach to a “public personality,” with a renewed interest in smart off-road vehicles.
Autonomous driving and parking assistant
This evolution is celebrated with the launch of its Fang Cheng Bao 8 model, which is currently in the testing phase. This hybrid SUV will be the first to feature Huawei’s Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 3.0 system, which includes advanced features such as autonomous driving and parking assistance.
The Qiankun ADS 3.0 system stands out for being the first to provide a “parking space to parking space” connection, allowing vehicles to autonomously detect complex environments and perform maneuvers such as tight U-turns or passing through gates.
Owners will be able to select a parking spot through the infotainment screen and, even more, they will be able to control parking remotely via a smartphone.
The collaboration between BYD and Huawei represents a breakthrough in smart driving technology for off-road vehicles, a reception that has sparked notable interest in the Chinese market. With increasingly demanding buyers seeking advanced features, BYD aims to maintain its leadership in a highly competitive sector.
This new approach could accelerate the internal development of advanced assistive technology, something crucial to maintain its position against competitors like NIO and XPeng.
