Bloomberg Affirms Speculation: iPhone 15 Launch Date Confirmed

The anticipation around this year’s Apple event is really high. iPhones are clearly one of the company’;s most popular and iconic products, and each new model generates great interest both within the industry and among future users.

The anticipated unveiling date for the new iPhone 15 appears to have been revealed. While we already reported on rumors last week, now, in the latest edition of the popular Power On newsletter, authored by renowned journalist Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, it has been confirmed that Apple is planning to host its annual iPhone event on either Tuesday, September 12th, or Wednesday, September 13th.

Confirmed, in quotes, but following the pattern of previous years’ schedules, the date makes perfect sense and aligns with what other sources were already suggesting. Thus, we are just over a month away from getting acquainted with the new iPhone 15, Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Ultra 2, and possibly a few surprises in the form of AirPods or other accessories.

The second Tuesday or Wednesday of September, according to rumors

In its characteristic style, Apple typically schedules the first of its fall events for the first two weeks of September. And all signs point to the company continuing this tradition this year, although there are rumors hinting at certain production challenges. This could potentially lead to limited supplies of certain models or even a slightly delayed release compared to the initial plans.

This schedule allows the company to launch the new iPhones and record a substantial volume of sales even before the holiday season begins. This is crucial for Apple, as the holiday season witnesses a significant surge in purchases, and thus, the supply chain has managed to meet the initial demand and ensure enough units for all projected purchases before the year’s end.

While one would expect the unveiling of the new devices to align with the typical Tuesday pattern for Apple, there is a factor that often disrupts this norm. When the presentation week coincides with the Labor Day holiday in the United States, which falls on a Monday, Apple tends to schedule the event for Wednesday, avoiding any disruptions with the holiday. The rumored week for this year doesn’t include Labor Day, but the speculation still leans towards the presentation event being held on Wednesday.

This information aligns with what 9to5Mac reports, noting that several carrier partners have prohibited their employees from taking time off on Wednesday, September 13th. This measure seems to be taken in anticipation of a “major smartphone announcement.” However, this doesn’t quite match the fact that reservations for the iPhone 15, as well as its official market release, would be scheduled after the presentation on Wednesday, September 13th, specifically on Friday, September 22nd.

Despite all the speculation and rumors, an official confirmation from Apple is still pending. The company typically sends out media invitations approximately a week before the event, so there are still a few days before absolute certainty can be established. Nonetheless, as the weeks go by, more rumors and leaks are likely to solidify the expected date.

Beyond the new iPhone 15, the September event could bring more surprises. Apple is expected to unveil the new Apple Watch Series 9 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2, both featuring primarily new, faster, and more efficient chips. We also anticipate getting final details and release dates for iOS 17 and related updates for other operating systems.
