ChatGPT, one of the most popular artificial intelligence chatbots, continues to evolve thanks to the constant improvements by OpenAI developers. Recently, a Twitter account called @legit_rumors suggested that OpenAI is working on a new functionality called “Context Connector”, which would allow ChatGPT to analyze files stored in cloud services like Google Drive and OneDrive without the need to download them beforehand.
Currently, users have to download the files from these services for ChatGPT to analyze them. However, the new functionality promises to simplify this process, allowing for direct integration that would save time for users. The tweet from @legit_rumors also indicates that users could manage the status of connected services from the app’s settings. Additionally, it hints that OpenAI might be working on integrating with Notion, although this feature is not yet complete.
A video shared by the user shows how, when clicking on the attachment icon, ChatGPT displays a button to “Add from Google Drive”, which allows accessing and selecting files directly from the cloud storage platform. Similar to the current file analysis feature, users will be able to ask ChatGPT to summarize documents, generate bullet points, and perform other actions with these files.

Despite the great possibilities, Context Connector is still under development, and an official release date has not been announced. It is also yet to be confirmed whether this new feature will be accessible to all users or limited to ChatGPT Plus subscribers.
