Google has introduced Gemini Live, a new voice chat mode for its artificial intelligence Gemini, during its Made by Google conference. This feature is available for Gemini Advanced subscribers and offers a seamless conversation experience, allowing users to interrupt responses mid-sentence or pause and resume the conversation later, without needing to touch any buttons. Additionally, Gemini Live can work in the background or when the device is locked.
The tech giant had announced the arrival of Gemini Live at its I/O conference earlier this year, where it was also announced that the feature would be able to interpret real-time video. This week, Google has started implementing this feature, although for now it is only available in English and for Android devices. The company claims that it will be available on iOS and in other languages “in the coming weeks.”

Among the other announced news, Google has also added 10 new voices for Gemini, with names like Ursa and Dipper, and has announced future extensions for applications such as Keep, Tasks, Utilities, and YouTube Music. In addition, Gemini is now capable of understanding the context of the screen, which allows users to obtain additional information about all kinds of videos simply by clicking on “Ask about this screen” or “Ask about this video.”
