OpenAI has just taken another step in the evolution of ChatGPT Voice. Following the arrival of GPT 6 a few days ago, the company has significantly expanded what we can do by talking to ChatGPT. Voice has gone from a simple conversation to being able to handle full tasks.
GPT-6 comes to ChatGPT’s voice mode
ChatGPT Voice can now rely on GPT-6 Astra for searches and reasoning. All of this adds to the new voice mode presented in July, which makes conversations feel much more natural and is capable of listening and speaking at the same time. Now we can combine that naturalness with much more capable models.
In addition, OpenAI has announced that plugins are coming directly to voice chats. We can connect email, calendar, Slack, and other applications and request actions simply by speaking. This simple integration makes voice conversation a much more useful tool for everyday use.
ChatGPT Work also understands our spoken commands
The other big new feature is in ChatGPT Work, which now accepts voice interaction both on the web and on mobile. We can ask it to create documents, prepare presentations, summarize Slack messages, or use its cloud browser to search for and cross-check information.
This change could easily go unnoticed amid the number of new developments, from both OpenAI and other companies, that we’ve been seeing lately, but it makes a big difference. It turns voice into a gateway to practically everything ChatGPT can do. We start a task while walking, continue it from the computer, and let Work keep working on it while we’re busy with other things. Without a doubt, great news.
