Gege Akutami has surprised fans of Jujutsu Kaisen by confirming the release of a new manga titled Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, which will be illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki, known for his work on Cipher Academy. This new chapter of the saga is set in a distant future, in the year 2086, several decades after the events of the original manga.

Witchcraft is back!

Modulo is presented as a sequel focused on a new generation of sorcerers, specifically on the grandchildren of the original characters Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin, named Yuta and Tsurugi. In fact, these characters were already introduced in the epilogue of Jujutsu Kaisen, confirming that one of the most anticipated couples by fans has come true. However, what surprises is the inclusion of science fiction and alien elements, where Maru, an alien being with dubious intentions, will play a crucial role in the plot.

The structure of the Module is conceived as a miniseries with a defined narrative, which could prevent it from being unnecessarily prolonged, a mistake that has harmed sequels like Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Akutami seeks to provide context about the characters from the original manga, but without overly relying on them, focusing the story on the experiences of Yuta and Tsurugi, which offers a fresh opportunity for new readers to delve into the universe of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Additionally, Iwasaki’s visual style adds a new dimension to the project, leaving behind Akutami’s style to create a visually distinct atmosphere. With the first chapter now available for free on Manga Plus, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo promises to capture the attention of fans of the series, positioning itself as one of the most interesting continuations in the world of modern manga.
