Meta rolled out Muse Spark 1.3 today, and the company is calling it its strongest model so far. It also puts more pressure on OpenAI and Anthropic. Meta says Muse Spark 1.3 can keep pace with Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5.1, beat OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Sol on coding, and score a 62 on Artificial Analysis’ Intelligence Index. By Artificial Analysis’ ranking, that leaves it behind only Claude Fable 5.1 and Opus 5, while still ahead of current OpenAI models.
According to Meta, the biggest jump shows up in coding, agent-style tasks, long-context work, and jobs that span multiple workflows. The company also says the model is better at handling uncertainty and uses about 25% fewer tokens than Muse Spark 1.2.
This is the fourth Muse Spark release in five months. Pricing for developers isn’t changing. Meta says some customers are already pushing trillions of tokens a week. The company still hasn’t decided whether Muse Spark 1.3 weights will be released, though it says it still plans to release the weights for Muse Spark 1.2. The launch also lands as OpenAI gets Astra ready and Meta aims for $125 billion to $145 billion in capital spending in 2026.
If you build on Meta’s API, this is an update to pay attention to. Muse Spark 1.3 is live now through Meta’s paid API, and the rollout across Facebook, Instagram, and the Meta AI assistant is expected over the next few weeks.
