Since Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game, the union between video games and cinema has been all the rage. But perhaps never as much as in this new update of Minecraft. And it turns out that Jack Black’s song Lava Chicken has become a cultural phenomenon by achieving the record for being the shortest song to reach the Billboard Top 100, with a mere 34 seconds in length. This catchy tune has captured the attention of fans, especially children, who can’t help but continuously hum the lyrics: “LA-LA-LA-LAVA CHI-CHI-CHI-CHICKEN”.
Wash and chickens: Lavollos!
Recently, version 1.21.94 of Minecraft has added Lava Chicken to the game, in the form of a music disc adapted by Hyper Potions, which reinforces the connection between the popularity of the song and the universe of the video game. To obtain this song in Minecraft, players must locate and defeat a chicken jockey, a baby zombie riding a chicken. The chance of this rare mob appearing is 0.25%, while it increases to 0.4875% if there are chickens nearby, adding a new level of challenge and fun for players.
The Minecraft movie, which includes Lava Chicken in its soundtrack, has been labeled as the most successful video game in the history of cinema, and a sequel has already been confirmed. This success has been partly due to the virality of the chicken jockey meme, which caused in some screenings children to shout “Chicken jockey!” in response to the scene in which this character appears. At times, the commotion was such that the police had to intervene, and there were even reports of a spectator who brought a real chicken to the cinema.
With Lava Chicken establishing itself as a key element in both the movie and the game, fans are eagerly anticipating Jack Black’s future creations and the development of the inevitable sequel.
