The developer conference is steadily approaching and the news leaks of the operating systems we will see presented are increasing. At WWDC 2023 next June 5, exactly eight weeks from now, we will see iOS 17, macOS 14 and also watchOS 10. We know little about what will change, beyond the change of direction Apple took with iOS 17, but what little we do know is really interesting.
Apple is preparing to release a new version of its iPhone operating system, iOS 17, and according to a MacRumors forum member who has been accurate with his predictions in the past, the iPhone Control Center will have “major” changes. While no specific details have been revealed, these new features are expected to be one of the main features of the update.
One of the most anticipated changes may become a reality in iOS 17
The Control Center underwent its last redesign in iOS 11, which was released in 2017, and hasn’t undergone major changes since then. The tool, which allows us to easily access controls for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, screen brightness, volume and other system functions, has remained largely the same in the latest versions of iOS. True, we now have the ability to organize the bottom section, to which we can add or remove tools and also change their order, but little else.
Entering the realm of speculation, it is likely that the changes to Control Center in iOS 17 will focus on customization, in addition to offering the occasional interface redesign. Apple could allow us to add or remove features to tailor the Control Center as a whole, not just the bottom section, to our individual needs. It could also revamp its overall appearance or add options such as being able to launch shortcuts or open specific applications from there.
All this while we also expect iOS 17 to focus on performance and stability improvements. A fact that is confirmed in the leak and suggests that the company is working to improve the overall experience. That yes, remember that we are talking about rumors, nothing has been confirmed by official sources. Although the source has been right with interesting details before, the truth is that in software development is where it is more difficult to make predictions because of its ease in changing quickly or leaving behind changes already made.
The iOS Control Center is ten years old this year. It was introduced with none other than iOS 7 in 2013. Since then, it has been an essential tool for all iPhone users, providing us with quick access to features and settings that would otherwise take us to the Settings app to change. The possibility of Apple renewing Control Center in iOS 17 could be a further sign of what Mark Gurman told us a few days ago: that iOS 17 will have some of the most anticipated new features for users.

With the presentation scheduled for Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June 2023, we will be able to download the first betas of iOS 17 and then subsequently enjoy its official arrival in the fall of this same year. The wait may be a bit long, but it will surely be more than rewarded.
