The Nothing Phone (3a) brings significant upgrades over its predecessor, the Nothing Phone (2a). While both devices maintain the brand’s signature design, the new model introduces improved performance, a better display, and a third camera. Let’s take a closer look at the key differences.
Key differences between Nothing Phone (3a) and Nothing Phone (2a)
One of the most noticeable changes is in materials. The Nothing Phone (2a) featured a plastic back, while the Nothing Phone (3a) now sports a glass back with an IP64 rating, offering better durability and resistance to dust and water.
In terms of display, the Nothing Phone (3a) makes a leap forward, featuring a 6.77-inch Flexible AMOLED panel, compared to the 6.7-inch display on the previous model. The refresh rate remains at 120Hz, but the new device reaches a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, significantly higher than the 1,300 nits on the Nothing Phone (2a).
Performance is another major area of improvement. The Nothing Phone (2a) was powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro, while the Nothing Phone (3a) upgrades to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, promising better efficiency and AI capabilities. Both phones offer 8GB or 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage.
The camera setup also sees an upgrade, with the Nothing Phone (3a) adding a 50 MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, in addition to the 50 MP main and 8 MP ultra-wide cameras. The older model only had two rear cameras, lacking the telephoto functionality.
Lastly, the Nothing Phone (3a) introduces Essential Space, a new AI-powered feature that enhances productivity by allowing users to store and access notes, images, and recordings easily.
