OpenAI has decided to restructure and focus its strategy towards the business sector, recognizing that it has lost ground to Anthropic, whose clearer business plan has allowed the latter to gain popularity in the market.
According to data from Ramp AI Index, 70% of companies adopting AI for the first time opt for Anthropic solutions, which has led OpenAI to intensify its efforts to regain market share.
OpenAI restructures to compete with Anthropic
To achieve this goal, OpenAI plans to nearly double its workforce, increasing from 4,500 to 8,000 employees over the year. This involves hiring approximately 12 new employees per day, focusing especially on areas such as product development, engineering, research, and sales.
The company also seeks to strengthen the role of “technical ambassadors,” who will help companies maximize the use of their products.
Another key part of the strategy includes the launch of a superapp, which will integrate its tools like Codex, ChatGPT, and the Atlas browser into a single platform. This move is necessary to improve efficiency, given that OpenAI has launched numerous products in recent years, many of which have been neglected, resulting in a lack of focus on its portfolio.
The recent agreement with the Pentagon has changed the public perception of OpenAI, making ChatGPT viewed less favorably compared to Anthropic. While OpenAI downplays the relevance of Ramp’s business adoption data, the reality is that the company is taking steps towards a necessary restructuring to face the growing competition in the artificial intelligence sector.
