OpenClaw just shipped its first official mobile apps for Android and iPhone. That puts it on the App Store and Google Play, after a stretch where mobile access mostly meant using messaging-platform integrations.
The apps bring native text chat, a real-time push-to-talk Talk mode, and approval prompts for actions kicked off from your main OpenClaw setup. They aren’t standalone, though. You still have to install, configure, and secure a self-hosted OpenClaw Gateway on Mac, Linux, or Windows through WSL2, and the mobile side will only be as solid as the system you’ve built behind it.
Under the hood, it’s still the same open-source TypeScript-on-Node.js agent. So however you wire up OpenClaw, you can hook it into models from OpenAI , Anthropic, Google, or self-hosted options like Ollama, let it run shell commands, control a browser, and manage files. On mobile, you can also give OpenClaw access to your camera, screen, location, photos, contacts, calendar, and reminders, while still keeping your keys, settings, and permissions in your hands through its local-first setup.
If you already self-host OpenClaw, and that level of control and flexibility is the whole point for you, these Android and iPhone apps are probably worth a look. Just go in with realistic expectations. Early feedback, especially from Android users, mentions buggy pairing, unstable connections, unfinished bits of the interface, and core features that stop working after setup. There are trade-offs here. And some rough edges.
You can download the apps now from the App Store and Google Play.
