Oracle has spent the last two years pouring tens of billions into AI cloud infrastructure for customers. Inside the company, the internal rollout moved fast too: after putting security controls, policies, and standards in place, Oracle broadly rolled out ChatGPT Enterprise and OpenAI Codex in April and May, and says roughly 80% of its 160,000 employees were using them within three months.
The clearest change showed up in output. Oracle says developers can now do in about a week work that used to take a team two to three quarters. Customer releases haven’t sped up nearly as much, though, because the bottlenecks now sit in testing, validation, deployment, release management, requirement definition, and verifying that the output is actually correct.
Evans said the rapid adoption also brought some sticker shock, so Oracle now shows employees which model they’re using and what it costs. According to him, GPT-6 Astra runs about 2.5 times the price of GPT-5.6 Terra, so routine tasks are being pushed to cheaper models, similar to JPMorgan putting a $2,000 monthly cap on Claude use.
For anyone tracking enterprise AI, one detail here stands out. Oracle says Claude Mythos Preview, accessed through Project Glasswing, found more potential code vulnerabilities in two weeks than the previous year did, but 60% to 70% of those turned out to be false positives, which adds another layer of verification.
Oracle says it’s using these tools internally alongside Oracle Code Assist and generative features across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Oracle’s enterprise software.
