Nintendo says Pokémon Pokopia is getting its first big DLC on August 5, 2026. It’s called Bubbly Basin, and it arrives as Part 1 of the game’s three-part $34.99 Expansion Pass for Nintendo Switch 2. That same day, all players will also get a free update that adds Dive for underwater exploration, even if they skip the paid content.
The paid add-on brings an underwater town and more Pokémon, including Mudkip, Popplio, and Corphish. Dive itself won’t be locked behind the Expansion Pass, so everyone gets that feature once the update goes live. Reaching the paid areas is separate: Nintendo says you’ll need the Bleak Beach request “Raise the environment level!” to access them.
If you’ve been following the roadmap, Part 2 is set for late 2026, with Part 3 planned for 2027. Nintendo released Pokémon Pokopia on March 5, 2026 as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, and Nintendo Switch 2 itself launched on June 5, 2025. The August 5 date first appeared in a Japanese commercial that was later made private after some reports mixed up the DLC release date with the hardware launch.
If you’re still playing Pokémon Pokopia, this feels like a worthwhile update to grab. Nintendo says the game sold 2.2 million copies in four days, and this expansion should help keep one of Nintendo Switch 2’s early success stories in the mix through 2026.
You can get Bubbly Basin through the Expansion Pass on Nintendo Switch 2, and the free Dive update will hit the same day whether you buy the DLC or not.
