Stranger Things Season 4 concluded a year ago, leaving us with many unanswered questions about Vecna, Hawkins, and the entire story of the series’ protagonists on Netflix. However, it became evident that there was still much more to be said in the Duffer Brothers’ fictional world, so there is still plenty to discover in the fifth and final season of the show.
Following the pattern of previous seasons of Stranger Things, the idea was for the next batch of episodes to arrive next year. However, we have some bad news for fans of the series: Season 5 will not be released until 2025… at the earliest.

Screenwriters’ strike hampers Stranger Things filming
The reason behind the production delay of Stranger Things Season 5 is a writers’ strike. The Duffer Brothers began working on the script for the fifth season last summer, intending to start filming in May and leave post-production for the fall.
However, things have not gone as planned. Although the previous scripts are ready for filming, the writers’ strike has caused everything to be delayed, and Matt and Ross Duffer explain the reason through their social media:
“Writing doesn’t stop when production begins. While we’re excited to start filming with our incredible cast and crew, it’s not possible during this strike. We hope a fair agreement is reached soon so we can all get back to work. Until then, standby and cut.”

As a result, until the situation is resolved, they won’t be able to film the fifth season of Stranger Things, and thus, the series will be indefinitely delayed. Let’s hope this ends soon, although it doesn’t seem like the battle will conclude anytime soon.
