Prime Video’s *Carrie* is out now: a *Battlestar Galactica* reunion

Mike Flanagan’s Carrie landed on Prime Video today, October 7, 2026. It’s an eight-episode adaptation of Stephen King’s 1974 novel, which gives Carrie White another screen retelling and slips in a Battlestar Galactica reunion most people probably didn’t see coming.

And if you thought this was a movie, it’s not. The October 7, 2026 premiere is a series, with Summer H. Howell playing outsider Carrie White and Samantha Sloyan cast as her controlling mother, Margaret White. The extra runtime gives the story more room to sit with the White family and the town around them, as isolation, bullying, and pressure at home build toward Carrie White’s telekinetic powers.

For genre fans, there’s also a reunion arriving 17 years after Battlestar Galactica ended in 2009. Michael Trucco recurs as John Hargensen. Tahmoh Penikett shows up in Episode 6, “Home Economics,” as Carrie White’s deceased father, Ralph White, appearing in flashbacks as Margaret White’s conspiracy-minded partner. Then Episode 7, “Romantic Literature,” brings in Katee Sackhoff, Aaron Douglas, Tricia Helfer, and Rekha Sharma for a town meeting scene, all playing concerned parents. It reads as a pretty clear nod from Mike Flanagan, who’s worked with Michael Trucco and Katee Sackhoff before.
