Russell Crowe’s R-rated MMA drama Beast is back in Starz’s top 10 for October 2026. It already had a stint at No. 1, and now it’s making another strong run on streaming.
Its theatrical release didn’t suggest that kind of afterlife. Beast opened on April 10, 2026 and pulled in just $1.8 million worldwide, but at home it seems to have found the audience it was always more likely to connect with, picking up extra steam on Starz, Prime Video, and Apple TV.
The movie follows a retired MMA champion who’s forced back into the ring to protect his younger brother. Daniel MacPherson plays the lead, Luke Hemsworth has a major supporting role, and Russell Crowe shows up as the former trainer.
Crowe also co-wrote the screenplay with David Frigerio. On Rotten Tomatoes, Beast has an 81% critics score and a 74% audience rating, and that seems to have helped it spread by word of mouth as a lean, effective action drama. Some reviews went a step further and said it landed harder than a few of the bigger boxing films released recently.
If gritty fight movies are your thing, Beast is an easy one to queue up, especially since it fits the pattern of Russell Crowe’s 2026 slate, with newer projects drawing bigger crowds on streaming than they did in theaters.
