Born in 1983 in the Spanish capital, Echegui stood out for her versatility and the intensity with which she portrayed complex characters, becoming one of the most recognizable figures in contemporary Spanish cinema.

Her career took off in 2006 with ‘I Am Juani’, directed by Bigas Luna, where her portrayal of a young woman with acting aspirations earned her a nomination for the Goya Award for Best New Actress. This debut marked the beginning of a career characterized by challenging roles. Echegui collaborated with some of the most respected filmmakers in Spain, leaving an indelible mark in films such as ‘The Courtyard of My Prison’, ‘Kathmandu, A Mirror in the Sky’, and ‘Explota Explota’.

In addition to her work as an actress, in 2022 Echegui won the Goya for Best Fiction Short for ‘Tótem loba’, where she addressed gender violence, showcasing her talent behind the camera as well.
