Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes just got a new update, and it brings Mara Jade Skywalker to the roster. After years of fan demand, one of the most requested Star Wars Legends characters is back in view as a new playable Light Side unit.
She arrives under the “Myths & Legends Era” label, so Lucasfilm is acknowledging the character again without bringing her back into official canon. This is also Mara Jade’s second version in the game. The first was the Dark Side “Mara Jade, the Emperor’s Hand.” Here, the character shifts from Palpatine’s operative to her later Jedi-era identity connected to Luke Skywalker.
Longtime readers will know why that matters. Mara Jade first appeared in Timothy Zahn’s 1991 Heir to the Empire, then went from antagonist to hero, eventually becoming a Jedi Master and Luke’s wife in Legends. She’s still one of the biggest omissions from Disney canon. Like Thrawn, this feels like selective Legends recognition, especially after Timothy Zahn and Claudia Gray said Mara’s canon appearances were blocked.
If you follow Expanded Universe characters, this update is one to pick up, even if it may feel more like overdue recognition than the full canon return a lot of fans still want.
