Adobe Firefly, the new AI from Adobe, is now capable of performing magic

Adobe has announced a new model of Firefly, its generative AI, capable of generating vector images in Illustrator, one of its most popular programs.

If you’re an artist, graphic designer, or advertiser, you’ve probably used Illustrator on more than one occasion. Adobe‘s program allows users to create and modify vector graphics (SVG files), which means images that can be scaled as much as you want without losing resolution (a significant advantage compared to JPG or PNG when using images on various-sized media).

Well, if you thought Illustrator’s multiple capabilities were already impressive, hold on tight. Adobe has announced at their MAX conference that the program will now feature integration with a new language model from Firefly, the AI created by Adobe capable of generating all kinds of images, including vector images from now on.

Adobe describes the new model as “the world’s first generative AI model focused on producing vector graphics.” Similar to other Firefly language models, this new vector model has been trained using Adobe Stock’s extensive image database, Adobe’s large image library.

With just a simple text input (or prompt), the beta version of Firefly’s new vector model will allow us to create any vector image we desire in Illustrator. But here’s the thing – we’re not just talking about simple shapes (like logos), but compositions with various objects that can be individually modified, much like regular layers.

To develop this vector model in Firefly, Adobe reportedly used tens of millions of vector images from Adobe Stock to train the AI, as explained by Alexandru Costin, the company’s Vice President for generative AI and Sensei. Costin also noted that this process was quite a journey; the development team focused on creating a model that could generate vector images with the fewest possible anchor points.

Certainly, it’s a significant addition to a design program used by millions of people worldwide. If you wanted to create a vector image in Illustrator but found yourself in one of those creative slumps, now all you need to do is describe what you’re looking for, and then modify the image to your liking.

Say Goodbye to Copyright Worries: Adobe Launches Innovative Platform for Brand-Friendly AI Images

Adobe has announced the launch of an enterprise platform from Firefly, its image-generating AI that is powered by Adobe Stock.

Artificial intelligence image generators are extremely popular nowadays. From DALL-E 2 to Midjourney, and the new Perfusion by Nvidia, there are all kinds of AI capable of creating what you describe (well, or something close to it). However, not everything is as rosy as it may seem.

DALL-E 2 ACCESS

One of the major controversies surrounding AI image generators is the use of copyrighted material. In order for these advanced AIs to generate images of virtually anything you request, they need to be “trained” on thousands and thousands of real images and photographs (created by humans, of course), many of which are copyrighted. This has greatly angered artists who daily denounce the theft of their works for training AIs.

In response to this situation, Adobe aims to set a precedent in the industry and has announced a new enterprise platform for Firefly, an AI image generator that “feeds” on images from Adobe Stock, which either have open licenses or are not subject to copyright restrictions within the public domain.

Adobe Firefly ACCESS

Whether through Creative Cloud, Adobe Express, or the standalone Firefly app, business users will be able to access the platform to create images in seconds based on the descriptions they provide to the AI, and then use them in their marketing campaigns, social media posts, presentations, etc., without any legal risks.

According to The Verge, the exact pricing for Firefly for businesses is currently unknown, but Adobe may establish a fixed price for brands based on their needs and the size of the organization. With no exact release date, it is currently known that this platform will be made available to the public when Firefly exits its beta phase.
