App of the Week: Pixlr

Softonic’s App of the Week highlights some of the coolest, most unique, and biggest app releases for Android, iOS, Windows, and Mac. This week, it’s all about editing photos with the now multi-platform photo app Pixlr.

Having just been released for Windows and Mac in the form of Autodesk Pixlr, Pixlr is already a really popular photo editing app for Android and iOS. Now, you can take the same experience to your desktop. While it’s not a super advanced photo-editor, it has a ton of tools for quickly editing photos: the basics include crop, resize, and auto fix, while the more advanced will give you borders, overlays, and stickers. Check out the video below for all of Pixlr’s photo editing features.

Photo editor Pixlr for desktop launched

Autodesk, the developer of Pixlr, a popular mobile and browser based photo editor, has released a desktop version for Windows and Mac. The starter edition is free, but you get additional tools if you sign up for a free account, and there’s also a paid ‘Pro’ membership which gives you even more features.

Pixlr is an easy to use Photoshop alternative. You can add filters and effects to your images as well as masks and overlays. It’s not as powerful as Adobe’s Photoshop, but for most people, Pixlr’s tools will be more than enough. A Pro Membership costs $1.00 per month, or $14.99 per year, which gives you all features and automatice updates in the future.

Pixlr Express, the mobile version, is available for iOS and Android devices, as well as in your browser.
