Few Hollywood actors can boast such a diverse and interesting track record as George Clooney. But if we are talking about success in the movies, another name we cannot miss is Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Both actors are old acquaintances of each other. In fact, you probably remember the infamous ‘Batman & Robin’ movie they both starred in back in 1997. Now we have discovered in a recent interview with Clooney that, despite having played Batman himself, Arnold was paid much more than him during the filming.
Currently, the actor, former bodybuilder and politician is once again living a golden age thanks to the release of his documentary ‘Arnold’ and the series ‘FUBAR‘ (both available on Netflix). And it doesn’t hurt to remember that Arnold was one of the highest paid actors of his time, something that was reflected in ‘Batman and Robin’.

During The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast, Clooney opened up about the criticism received for the film and the huge pay gap between him and Arnold. In ‘Batman and Robin’, Arnold played the role of Mr. Freeze, one of the main villains of the film.
The Ocean’s Eleven actor said, “Arnold was paid, I think, $30 million, like 20 times what I was paid. We didn’t even work together, we only worked together for one day. But after that, I took all the blame“.
Despite the bad experience, Clooney also acknowledged that he learned a lot from the film’s failure: “I played Batman and I didn’t do well, it wasn’t a good movie. What I learned from that failure is that I had to rethink how I was working. At that point, I wasn’t just an actor with a role: I was also made responsible for the whole movie itself.”

The truth is that he is not wrong. Batman and Robin is considered one of the worst Bat movies (or the worst) ever made. Not even its star-studded cast (Uma Thurman, Alicia Silverstone, Elle MacPherson, etc.) managed to overcome its critical and box office failure.
