Ubisoft has revealed new details about its highly anticipated title, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, scheduled to be released on March 20, 2025, after two delays. Originally announced as Codename Red three years ago, the game has captured the attention of fans by being set in Japan, an environment that has been highly requested by the gaming community.
Two Characters, Two Ways to Play
Shadows introduces two playable characters with opposing combat styles: Naoe, focused on stealth, and Yasuke, an aggressive warrior. Each has unique abilities that allow players to adopt diverse strategies in combat, innovatively integrating stealth and action mechanics. This dynamic aims to satisfy different types of Assassin’s Creed fans, from purists who long for the classic elements of the series to those who enjoy direct combat.
During a recent six-hour gameplay session at Ubisoft Quebec, the gameplay of both characters was highlighted. Naoe, with his stealthy approach, faces a level design that allows for infiltration and exploration, while Yasuke shines in frontal combat, displaying agility and strength characteristic of his historical character. Both characters present limitations that force players to be creative in their approach, adding a level of depth to the gameplay.
The game will also encourage active exploration, with objectives that will not be marked on the map, requiring investigation to be located. Additionally, players will be able to expand their base of operations, building workshops and other buildings that will offer permanent upgrades and customization.
With the blend of stealth, dynamic combat, and a narrative that encompasses historical elements like Yasuke’s arrival in Japan, Assassin’s Creed Shadows promises to be an installment that revitalizes the saga and satisfies its most demanding followers.
