Steam has given a new twist to Assassin’s Creed Rogue, released in 2014, by introducing achievements in the game, which might attract back players who may have set it aside. This installment, which is the seventh main title in the popular franchise, is set against the backdrop of the French and Indian War, which takes place between 1752 and 1760. In Rogue, players follow the story of Shay Patrick Cormac, an Irish-American privateer who, in an unexpected turn, becomes a Templar, which sparked mixed reviews upon its initial release.
46 new achievements to dust off the game
The implementation of achievements allows players to earn rewards by completing various challenges, such as freeing prisoners and capturing settlements. A total of 46 achievements are available, including standard challenges and more specific ones, like throwing a harpoon at a narwhal or freeing 300 British prisoners of war. Additionally, those who have already played Rogue on Steam will receive these achievements automatically, which could encourage a new wave of players on the platform.
The announcement of the achievements comes at a strategic time, as the launch of Assassin’s Creed Shadows approaches, scheduled for March 20. This new title will take players to 16th century Japan, promising to add a new dimension to the franchise. Despite the controversy surrounding several Assassin’s Creed titles, the interest in exploring new narratives and historical contexts seems to be on the rise.
With this update, Steam aims to revitalize interest in Assassin’s Creed Rogue, which could mean an opportunity for both new players and veterans to return to the gaming experience, now with the added appeal of achievements.
