Bungie has confirmed its partnership with Lucasfilm to introduce Star Wars content in Destiny 2, marking one of the most notable collaborations in the game’s history. This new inclusion will be released on February 4th alongside the Destiny 2: Heresy update, and will include a variety of armor ornaments, accessories, emotes, and finishers inspired by the iconic franchise. The new armor ornaments will offer a specific design for each Guardian class, taking inspiration from the soldiers of the Galactic Empire, promising players an unprecedented immersion in the Star Wars universe.
An Update Marked by Major Changes
In addition to the collaboration with Lucasfilm, the Heresy update will mark the return of the Dreadnaught, a ship that has not been explored by players in almost a decade. Nikko Stevens, narrative architect of Destiny 2, highlighted that players will be able to face new challenges while navigating a transformed Dreadnaught, which has awakened from its slumber, prompting the Guardians and the Vanguard to take action. This new experience will allow a glimpse into the current state of the ship, after the defeat of Oryx and with the facilities that have been left unused.
In a broader context, Bungie has also announced significant changes in its internal structure for the coming year, which include massive layoffs and a restructuring aimed at forming a new team within Sony to develop a new game. Although the company will continue to support Destiny 2, it is also working on other exciting projects like Marathon, and a game that, according to rumors, will be inspired by frogs and comedy.
