Raphaël Colantonio, the founder of Arkhane Studios and co-creator of the acclaimed Dishonored saga, has expressed his interest in working on a possible Dishonored 3, although he clarifies that this project is not yet viable. During a recent interview on the Quad Damage podcast, Colantonio reflected on the idea of revisiting the franchise, indicating that, despite not having immediate plans, he could see himself involved in the development of a new fictional installment of the game: “We are totally speaking hypothetically, but I could see myself working on Dishonored 3 right now. It’s been so long that… why not?”.
They have acknowledged that it is more of a wish than a reality
Despite this glimmer of hope, the outlook is complicated. Colantonio and other key members of Arkhane, such as Harvey Smith, have left the company, making the development of a sequel even more uncertain. “I don’t think it makes sense to talk about it now,” emphasized Colantonio. He also mentions that many of the key collaborators in the creation of Dishonored are currently committed to other projects, which further complicates any initiatives related to the series.
Colantonio, currently working on a first-person RPG, prefers to explore new ideas rather than focus on immediate sequels. However, he has revealed that he and other former members of Arkane have written concepts for Dishonored 3, although its realization seems to be a long way off. “It’s almost science fiction,” he admitted, suggesting that the future of the saga will depend on the right conditions aligning to allow for a return.
Despite the challenges, the possibility of a new Dishonored title is not completely ruled out, which keeps fans of this beloved franchise eagerly awaiting some positive news in the future.
