The profession of acting is often idealized as a job full of glamour and success, but in reality, it involves challenging situations and considerable physical risks. This has been recently highlighted during the filming of season 2 of One Piece, available on Netflix, where the physical challenges faced by the actors were extraordinary. According to Emily Rudd, who plays Nami, the conditions during the filming of a critical scene were extreme, as the actors had to climb a mountain in the middle of a snowstorm, which required great physical effort.
Performance of the truth method
In this scene, Luffy, played by Iñaki Godoy, was unable to use his rubber powers, which increased the difficulty of the shoot. Rudd explained in an interview with IGN that the situation was so real that they didn’t have to imagine anything, referring to the intense experience of climbing with safety harnesses. Both actors were secured with ropes in a synchronized manner, allowing Godoy not to have to carry Rudd during the climbing process.
A detail about the snow used in the scene is revealing: instead of real snow, the actors faced a mixture of wet paper, which adds another layer of complexity to the filming. This shows that, behind the scenes, the production was much more than just acting, physically challenging the performers in every take.
The second season is now available on the streaming platform, and fans will be able to enjoy more adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates. In addition, it has been confirmed that there will be a third season, titled “The Battle of Alabasta,” scheduled to premiere in 2027. With these announcements, One Piece continues to expand its universe within modern television.
