Naughty Dog’s next project, titled Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, was presented during the recent The Game Awards gala and is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious games in the studio’s history. Neil Druckmann, the director of the title, has shared that the team is currently working intensely on its development, reflecting the high expectations placed on this science fiction title set in an alternate future.
Can the unbeatable be surpassed?
Intergalactic focuses on the character of Jordan A. Mun, played by actress Tati Gabrielle, and will take place on a planet called Sempiria, which has its own history, conflicts, and mythologies. In this context, Jordan becomes a bounty hunter and begins to unravel a mystery that connects the planet’s politics with its religion. This narrative approach suggests a deeper development of the lore and characters, in line with Naughty Dog’s tradition.
Druckmann has emphasized that this new title will offer more freedom and options to the player, representing an evolution from The Last of Us: Part 2. Although no release date has been announced, it has been confirmed that Intergalactic will be exclusive to PS5. Additionally, the team has mentioned that internal testing of the game is already underway, indicating that development is progressing well.
Regarding the cast, alongside Gabrielle, Tony Dalton and Troy Baker join, known for his participation in the franchise The Last of Us. Furthermore, Druckmann has hinted at the possibility of future installments within this universe, emphasizing the intention to position Intergalactic as Naughty Dog’s next big leap in the world of video games. The company is also in contact with several Hollywood studios to explore a film adaptation, although the priority will be to deliver an exceptional video game before moving in that direction.
