The story of the Norman conquest of England comes to life in the new series King and Conqueror, created by Michael Robert Johnson for BBC One. Set in the year 1066, this fiction dramatizes the events that culminated in the famous Battle of Hastings, a conflict that marked the end of Viking raids in the British Isles.
A series full of illustrious faces
At the center of the story are the characters of Harold II of England, played by James Norton, and William the Conqueror, brought to life by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. Norton, known for his role in House of the Dragon, brings a new dimension to the character of Harold, who is chosen as the successor to King Edward, a monarch without children. However, his rise to the throne is threatened by rival claimants, which sparks a struggle for power that will unleash a war in the country.
Guillermo, ambitious and determined, believes that Eduardo had promised him the succession before he passed away. Pursuing this guarantee, he embarks on a bloody campaign that leads the nation to war. The series also introduces King Harald III of Norway, played by Sveinn Ólafur Gunnarsson, a familiar character for fans of Vikings: Valhalla, where he was shown in a younger version by Leo Suter.
King and Conqueror will consist of eight episodes and will premiere in the United Kingdom on August 24, 2023. However, there is still no confirmation about its arrival in Spain. This new project promises to capture the attention of fans of historical series, especially those who have been captivated by the universe of Vikings and Game of Thrones.
