Gareth Edwards, a director known for his work on the Jurassic World franchise, has shared his experience about his involvement in the new installment titled Jurassic World Rebirth. Initially, the filmmaker was hesitant about the project and had considered taking a break from directing. However, his perspective changed drastically after reading the script, written by David Koepp, a frequent collaborator of Steven Spielberg and co-writer of the iconic Jurassic Park. Edwards expressed in a recent interview that he started reading the script with the intention of rejecting it, but was surprised by its quality.
A script that managed to convince him to repeat
“I was ready for the polite ‘no.’ But when I got to the end of the script, I thought: ‘Oh, this is good. Damn it,'” Edwards commented in the new edition of SFX magazine. The director emphasized that all the characters in the script shine and that the urgency and excitement of working on the project led him to accept the direction. “It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so I dove right in,” he added, indicating that the production process has been intense but rewarding.
Jurassic World Rebirth will premiere in theaters on July 2nd and features an impressive cast that includes Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali. Information about the movie and more details about Edwards’ vision will be available in the upcoming edition of SFX, which will be released on June 18 and features Star Trek: Strange New Worlds on its cover.
With the Jurassic World film series expanding its cinematic universe, fans eagerly await the new thrills that Rebirth will offer. The combination of a solid script and a passionate director promises to recapture the audience’s attention, generating high expectations for its release.
