Nintendo has filed a lawsuit against James ‘Archbox’ Williams, a Reddit moderator, for his alleged management of illegal video game distribution sites. The Japanese company is seeking $4.5 million in damages, accusing him of having offered large libraries of pirated Nintendo Switch games and providing technical assistance to users in a Reddit group where he exercised his moderation.

According to the documents submitted in the United States District Court, this legal action follows a cease and desist order that Nintendo sent to Archbox in March 2024. Despite acknowledging that its activities infringed the rights of Nintendo of America, Archbox did not comply with the company’s demands and continued operating its piracy portals.
