A new film project is in the works, adding another layer to the growing landscape of graphic novel adaptations. Razorman, a live-action feature film based on the series of graphic novels by artist and writer Bill Masuku, is in development thanks to the collaboration of Kugali Media, a company known for its focus on cultural representation in visual storytelling.
It’s not a man, it’s not a plane!
The story of Razorman is set in Zimbabwe and follows a superhero in an environment rich in local mythology and culture. This work aims not only to entertain but also to provide an authentic reflection of Zimbabwean identity through the cinematic genre, elevating diversity in the world of superhero films.
The filmmakers involved in this ambitious project come from a notable pedigree, having previously worked on Netflix’s The Heart of the Hunter and Disney’s Iwájú. These experiences provide them with a valuable perspective in creating works that combine action and impactful storytelling, which could greatly benefit Razorman.

Additionally, the production is being carried out in collaboration with Newmation, a company founded by David Neumann, a former CAA agent, and Alta Global Media.
Graphic novel and superhero movie fans should pay attention to this development, as it promises to be a milestone not only in African representation in cinema but also in the evolution of modern narratives.
With Razorman, the audience can anticipate a visual experience that challenges conventions and celebrates a rich cultural heritage. Although details about the cast and release date are still unknown, anticipation is beginning to grow in the community of graphic novel and live-action movie followers.
