The independent developer Chris Allen has decided to offer his role-playing game, Shade Silver, for free on Steam until 10 AM PT on August 21. After that, players will have to pay for the title. Shade Silver immerses players in a fantasy world, where they control a wizard facing traps, enemies, and puzzles across 81 levels, each full of secrets to discover.
Valve pulls some aspects of Steam
Allen has also released a trailer for his upcoming project, Vein-Weaver Knitting, which already has a demo available on Steam. This new game promises to follow the line of his previous success, bringing the same dedication to design and gameplay that characterize Allen’s titles.
Additionally, in relation to Steam, Valve has made adjustments to the display of reviews to make them more relevant to players. They are also renewing the design of game pages, expanding the space for images and videos. However, this visual renewal has also been accompanied by criticism. The platform has begun to remove NSFW games from search results, reflecting a trend towards content moderation in the digital store.
Among the titles affected by these policies is Vile: Exhumed, an indie psychological horror game that was banned by Steam. Despite this, the game is now available as a free download, allowing new players to experience this unsettling adventure at no cost.
With these decisions, Valve seeks to maintain a balance between the creative freedom of developers and the concerns of certain groups about the content found on its platform.
