Dallas Jenkins, the creator of ‘The Chosen’, has announced plans for two additional seasons. In this brief clip, Jesus tells Judas: I will pray for you, a statement that has sparked criticism for its apparent lack of fidelity to the Scriptures. Several religious leaders, such as pastors Gabriel Hughes and Shane Idleman, have questioned this interpretation, arguing that there is no biblical basis to support that Jesus prayed for Judas.

Hughes, from the Reformed Baptist Church of Providence in Arizona, has pointed out that the scriptures never indicate that Jesus made such a prayer for his traitor. For his part, Idleman emphasizes that, although creative adaptations of biblical stories may be necessary, he believes that this particular scene strays too far from the original accounts.
