Fans of The Division 2 are in for a treat, as Ubisoft has revealed a new extraction mode called Survivors, along with a new season titled The Pact, which will start on September 9. These updates aim to revitalize the gaming experience and attract player interest. The implementation of these features was made possible thanks to the hard work of a small team of five developers who set out to create something more lasting than just temporary patches.

Artist Palle Hoffstein, one of the team members, shared details about how the idea to revive the game came about. Hoffstein admitted that facing significant challenges, such as staffing within Ubisoft, complicated the process. “We weren’t supposed to exist”, he noted, referring to the difficulties of forming a team that wasn’t planned in advance. Despite these challenges, the project’s adaptation was successful, and Ubisoft managed to expand the original team, allowing them to move forward with the vision for The Division 2.
In addition to the new Survivors mode, the update includes an open-world activity called Retaliation. This new feature promises to open new pathways for progression in the game and facilitate the acquisition of unique loot, which will be available permanently and not just during the season. This focus on content sustainability is a welcomed change by the community, which hopes for a rebirth in the gaming experience.
With these updates, Ubisoft aims to revitalize interest in a title that still has a lot of life ahead. Players are eager to explore these additions, which promise to enrich their experience in The Division 2 and keep the narrative alive in the game’s universe.
