Pokémon players are facing significant issues when trying to transfer their creatures from Pokémon HOME to Pokémon Champions, which has led to several Pokémon being “trapped in limbo”. This error has been highlighted by Justin Carris, a prominent player in the VGC (Video Game Championships) scene, who warned about the situation on Twitter, calling it an “unacceptable setback”. Carris recounted that he spent hours cultivating his Pokémon for the new title, only to encounter an error message during the transfer process.
A problem without a solution
The problem seems to be recurring, affecting different players trying to move their Pokémon both in the Nintendo Switch versions and on mobile devices. According to Carris, the error message preventing the transfer indicates that the Pokémon attempted to move to Champions, but apparently stopped halfway, making it impossible to transfer them back to other games like Scarlet and Violet. “Basically, they are stuck in limbo,” commented Carris in his post.
Despite the recommendations from players and Nintendo support to clear the cache of Pokémon HOME, this approach has not resolved the issue for everyone. Some players have been advised to reinstall the app, but Carris has indicated that this method has not worked in their case. The extent of the problem remains uncertain, and there is currently no reliable method to avoid it when transferring Pokémon.
Despite these initial difficulties, some players believe that Pokémon Champions has the potential to offer high-level battles accessible to new players, which could revitalize interest in the competitive Pokémon world. However, with the uncertainty surrounding Pokémon transfer, players are being cautious when proceeding with migrations.
